Donna Arceneaux, Former NTGTS Intern

“During my internship with NTGTS, I was provided with many opportunities to meet industry leaders, learn about key players and new developments, and network with many similarly-minded people.  I applied my experience while working as a contractor for Verizon and SBC (now AT&T), and continue to rely upon the things I learned during my internship in my current position as a consultant with Oliver Wyman.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Presently, we are seeking volunteers to serve in various leadership and
internship roles in North Texas and the Greater Washington, D.C. area.
Becoming involved from a leadership standpoint is an excellent way to
enhance your industry visibility, knowledge, leadership, management and
professional development skills with a dynamic global non-profit
professional industry organization. We have a proven track record of
providing our members and others in the community with programs and
information that enable them to better understand and benefit from the
developments taking place in global communications.

If you are interested, please contact Jeremy Azif at president@ntgts.org by
March 15, 2006. When responding, please indicate what areas you have
interest in supporting the organization and provide us your contact
information so we can get in touch with you. Thank you for your interest
and we look forward to your involvement.

EVENT SPONSORSHIP & SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES

We are looking for event sponsors to help support our monthly networking
series in North Texas and the Greater Washington, D.C. areas. This is an
excellent opportunity for any company or organization to gain additional
industry visibility and exposure. NTGTS will work with your organization to
customize an event sponsorship package that is tailored to your goals and
needs.
In addition, we are seeking companies and/or organizations (i.e., chambers,
etc.) to sponsor meeting space for our events and activities. Venue
sponsorship would give your entity another opportunity to obtain additional
exposure in the telecom and high-tech sectors including media,
entertainment, healthcare, IT, among other industries.

Finally, if you or someone you know would like to serve as a speaker at our
events, please see
http://www.ntgts.org/index.php?option=com_facileforms&Itemid=68 and complete
an on-line speaker application. Once the application is received and
reviewed, a representative from our Programs Task Force will be in touch
with you. If you find yourself in either D.C. or Texas, please let us know
in advance of your travels and perhaps we can set up a program around your
schedule.

For further information about any or all of these above-mentioned
opportunities, please send an e-mail to programs@ntgts.org or
sponsorship@ntgts.org.

PUBLIC RELATIONS EXPERTISE NEEDED

The organization has worked closely with several public relations,
advertising and media relations firms locally, nationally and
internationally. Presently, we want to establish a partnership(s) with a
public relations firm who can provide us public and media relations
expertise. If you know of a firm that is able to provide expertise to our
organization, please contact Jeremy Azif, President & Co-Founder, NTGTS/CTC
at president@ntgts.org by March 15, 2006 for more details.

RESOURCES, JOBS & MORE

U.S. Department of Commerce Reports: Brazil and Spain

Brazil: Pay TV Market
The Brazilian market for pay TV was estimated to be US$2.1 billion at
year-end 2005. Pay TV broadcasters, as of September 2005, had nearly
4million subscribers in Brazil. Internet access, VOIP, triple-play
services, and WiMAX are expected to bring a flow of new investment and to
contribute to the expansion of this market over the next few years. Best
prospects for U.S. suppliers include all type of broadband solutions such as
cable modems, home networking platforms, IP telephones, and video-on-demand
services.

Brazil: Telecom Market Update
With roughly 35 percent of the region’s revenues, Brazil remains Latin
America’s largest telecom market. Net revenue from telecom equipment and
services was near US$35.6 billion in 2004, a 23 percent increase from 2003.
Motorola, Nokia, Nortel, and Cisco have manufacturing facilities in Brazil,
giving the country one of the region’s best telecom infrastructures.

Sector revenues are split among fixed carriers (41.2%), mobile carriers
(25.3%), manufactured products (19.5%), and services (14%). By the end of
2005, Anatel (the National Agency for Telecommunications) predicts total
telecom investment will reach US$64 billion, 47% for fixed services and 19%
for mass communication services.

For a full copy of the both reports, contact Paulette Hernandez at
paulette.Hernandez@mail.doc.gov.

Spain: RFID Market Overview
Although Spain has been slow to adopt RFID technology, there are
opportunities for U.S. companies, primarily in the areas of
distribution/logistics, health services, automotive and security. In
addition, Spain’s expected adoption of the European RFID standard is
expected to spur RFID demand by European customers purchasing Spanish goods.
Currently, the majority of RFID pilot projects in Spain center on logistics
uses, mainly at pallet-level. Examples of projects outlined in the report
include: Madrid Transportation Authority – ticketing application; Zaragoza
Logistics/Sun Microsystems - joint development of an RFID lab for logistics
applications; Gregoria Maranon Hospital - multiple projects; Via-t - highway
tolling system; and the Spanish Postal Services’ intent to trial RFID for
package tracking applications. For a copy of the full report please contact
Joe Burton at joseph.burton@mail.doc.gov.
