October 2009 Monthly Networking Event Network Innovators - How Three Startup Companies are Creating the Future

The program will run from 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central. This special panel program, “Network Innovators – How Three Startup Companies are Creating the Future” will be moderated by Deborah Stokes, Director, Chief Technology & Strategy Office, Nortel Enterprise Solutions. Featured panelists include: Jim Bunch, Vice President of Engineering, AppTrigger; Maurice D'Souza, Vice President of Engineering, AirWalk Communications; and Adam Hotchkiss, Vice President of Product Management, Menara Networks. About Our Speakers: Jim Bunch is the Vice President of Engineering at AppTrigger and is responsible for design and development of the company's products. Jim has more than 30 years of product development experience on voice, data, and multimedia telecommunication systems. Prior to joining AppTrigger, Jim was VP of Engineering at Samsung Telecommunications America and led the development of the wireless and wireline softswitch products. Jim holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of North Texas. Jim is also a member of the Telecommunications and Computer Science Industrial Advisory Boards at the University of Texas at Dallas. Maurice D'Souza, Vice President of Engineering for AirWalk Communications, is responsible for R&D, product realization, and the execution of engineering strategy for all AirWalk products. Since 2008, he has led the software and development efforts for AirWalk's femtocell initiatives and has been an integral focal point in customer trials and acceptance of AirWalk products. Maurice has more than 25 years of telecommunications and telephony experience. He is completing an MBA from Texas A&M-Commerce and has a Master's degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology. He has bachelor's degrees in electronics engineering and chemistry from DeVry University and the University of Mumbai respectively. Adam Hotchkiss, Vice President of Product Line Management for Menara Networks, brings more than a decade of experience in the definition, launch and support of telecommunications and data transmission systems to interchange and local exchange carriers. Prior to Menara Networks, Adam served as Product Line Manager for WDM Systems at Qtera Corporation, which was acquired by Nortel Networks in 2000. In his role with Qtera and Nortel, Adam served in a senior position responsible for the definition, requirements and architecture of WDM transport products, which led to the successful launch of two generations of WDM platforms including the industry's first ultra-long haul 10G WDM system. Adam graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1997 with a BSEE. Deborah R. Stokes, Director, Chief Technology & Strategy Office, for Nortel's Enterprise Solutions business, has responsibility for the operations and management of the Chief Technology/Strategy Office, including the strategic management of external research programs and innovation. Deborah has served in various roles (and locations) for the company, including the Wireless Networks business division where she managed business development, executive support, and communications. Deborah serves on the Metroplex Technology Business Committee, and various advisory boards at UT-Dallas, University of North Texas, University of Kansas, Monterrey Tech, McGill University, and MIT. Deborah has numerous publications in the technology management field, and has filed a patent on measuring the ROI from university investments. Deborah has a BS in Business Administration, and completed her Executive MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas under a Nortel sponsorship in 1994, with a focus on "Managing for Change".
