On September 24, we held a successful program at the University of Dallas-Frisco Campus featuring Art Sanchez, Technical Product Manager, GPS, at Tekelec. Art discussed messaging applications and how they can be optimized for networks in today’s world. Thanks to Art and the University of Dallas for helping to make this program a great success. On October 15, we held a widely successful program at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) focused on Network Innovators. Jim Bunch of AppTrigger, Maurice D’Souza of AirWalk Communications, Adam Hotchkiss of Menara Networks, and Deborah Stokes of Nortel’s Enterprise Solutions business served on the panel. The focus of the discussion centered on start up ventures and how they are creating the future. The program was very well attended and garnered terrific feedback. On November 19, we will hold another Monthly Program at the University of Dallas-Frisco Campus featuring Kevin Wheeler, Principal Security Strategist, South Central Area, Symantec Corporation. Kevin will discuss the anatomy of an online security breach and the methods attackers use to compromise systems and steal information. This will be a riveting program and discussion. Azif NOVEMBER PROGRAM: Anatomy of an Online Security Breach Please join NTGTS for its Monthly Program on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the University of Dallas, Frisco Campus, 7460 Warren Parkway, Frisco, TX. The program will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central. The program's featured speaker is Kevin Wheeler, Principal Security Strategist, South Central Area, Symantec Corporation, who will be discussing the anatomy of an online security breach and the methods attackers use to compromise systems and steal information.An industry recognized expert, Kevin Wheeler has over 15 years of information security, IT audit and compliance experience. He is currently an Enterprise Security Strategist at Symantec Corporation. Prior to joining Symantec Kevin was the CEO of InfoDefense, an information security consultancy and a Vice President responsible for network authentication and encryption technologies at Bank of America. Kevin has performed information security audits and assessments as well as network security design, computer incident response, business continuity planning, and IT security training for organizations in the financial services, healthcare, government and IT services industries. Mr. Wheeler's project and employment portfolio includes organizations such as the United States Department of Defense, Bank of America, EDS and the State of Texas. Kevin is the author of "IT Auditing: Using Controls to Protect Information Assets", a McGraw-Hill publication. He is also an adjunct instructor at Southern Methodist University and a frequent speaker at information security and information technology audit conferences. Cost Members are $5.00 per person. At this time we are offering an opportunity for interested individuals or corporations to sponsor a new call bridge or donate a Conference Call Bridge number that may already exist within the respective company for the use of NTGTS Monthly meetings. Webinar Hosting - The Leadership of NTGTS has also considered hosting a Webinar twice a year on topics of community interest. The Webinar can be via WebEx or other tools currently available. According to the report femtocell shipments will grow from 0.2 million units in 2009 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 127 percent to 12 million units worldwide in 2014. Femtocells are small cellular base stations using broadband connections for backhaul, intended to extend coverage and offload the mobile macro network in home and small office environments. The European, North American and advanced markets in Asia Pacific will account for the vast majority of femtocell shipments in the foreseeable future.
