February 2010 Monthly Networking Event: Profiles for Success: How Telecom and IT Professionals Can Succeed in Today’s Challenging Economy

The program's featured speaker is Ruth Glover, President, Career Consultations, who will be discussing Profiles for Success: How Telecom and IT Professionals Can Succeed in Today’s Challenging Economy. Whether you are writing a resume, using social networking sites such as LinkedIn, or attending professional associations, you will want to hear Ruth Glover review the important ingredients for career success. This interactive session promises to give you immediate, practical information for your career progress, whether employed or unemployed. Networking is critical to success, both inside and outside your company and Ruth will cover various ways to promote your career. Ruth Glover, President of Career Consultations, provides a unique understanding of recruiting and outplacement, as she consistently contributes to both endeavors. Her corporate experience includes Fortune 500 companies, such as Texas Instruments, Alcatel and Lennox International, as well as working with start-ups. She established Career Consultations in 1984 with a $28 investment in brochures. She thinks of herself as a "generalist in staffing" as she has worked with all levels of personnel, from fork lift drivers to CEOs with a majority of her recruiting in technical engineering. Her background in staffing functions for both large and small companies affords candidates the opportunity to obtain real world advice and contacts. She has been a corporate recruiter, contract recruiter and is currently concentrating on recruiting projects in the semiconductor space. Ruth is the author of: MORE THAN A PAYCHECK: Inspiration and Tools for Career Change which was published in September 2009. She also blogs at www.hotcareers.com/blog and writes articles for the Career Transition category of www.examiner.com for the Dallas area. Her volunteer work includes a leadership role for the JOB Group at Custer Road United Methodist Church and other speaking engagements. Ruth holds a BS in Education from Ohio State and an MS in Counseling/Training from the University of Wisconsin.
