April 2010 Monthly Networking Event   TV Everywhere:  Broadband Delivery Challenges

Please join NTGTS and its Host Sponsor, The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering & Computer Science, at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), for an exciting Monthly Program on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the UTD campus in Richardson, TX.  The program will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central.  This special program, "TV Everywhere:  Broadband Delivery Challenges” will feature Kathy McEwen, Founder and CEO, Iridescent Networks.

Starting a networking technology small company in the post tech crash world of the late 2000’s has been filled with many great adventures as well as tremendous challenges.  The march of progress in networks, particularly with the wide spread availability of broadband across the globe, has driven new and convenient ways for people to consume and share video.  Video demand has risen in dominance across all networks, to now consume over 60% of global traffic figures, weighing heavily on the cost of network businesses and revenue models of media businesses.  Media, broadcast and cable companies are all scrambling to stay current in the new world of broadband video consumption, and have embraced the concept of TV Everywhere.  TV Everywhere, across fixed, mobile, and nomadic broadband access and devices, at home, at work and on the go, will require new ways of managing consumer’s and content, as well as new ways of processing and routing packets across network domains.   Kathy McEwen has over 18 year's networking experience.  She is a founder of Iridescent Networks, and is currently leading the company.  In this role she is responsible for all aspects of running the company, including customer and market validation, system design, recruiting and raising capital.

Her experience, at Alcatel, Spatial Wireless, Nortel and Mavenir, spans mobile and fixed networking, large and small businesses, having led sales, marketing, product management, software development and strategic positioning roles.  Throughout her career, she expanded market share, grew revenue and company recognition with many new product solutions and business strategies.

Kathy holds a Bachelors of Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick.
