Testimonials

Sergio Hirai, Program Manager, Microsoft Corp. and Former NTGTS Intern

"During my MBA that focused on telecom, I got involved with NTGTS as an intern to get a little bit more exposure in the industry I was pursuing.  The experience was very enriching and NTGTS gave me the opportunity to meet several groups in the telecom arena.  My participation organizing the events helped me to develop my planning and communications skills in a real business environment with top leaders in the area from the most diverse backgrounds and views of the industry.  Not only did developing contacts with real business and topics open my mind, the leadership at NTGTS was also very interested in my personal development.  I really enjoy working with the team NTGTS built.  I can only thank NTGTS for the opportunity to be part of the team.”

June 2010 Monthly Networking Event:  Verizon Wireless Open Development & LTE

Please join NTGTS for its Monthly Program on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the University of Dallas, Frisco Campus, 7460 Warren Parkway, Frisco, TX from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central.  The program's featured speaker is David McCarley, Executive Director - Service Performance & Device Evaluation, Verizon Wireless, who will provide an overview of Verizon’s forthcoming LTE launch in 2010.

The wireless world is rapidly evolving from voice-driven to data-driven services. When wireless phones became popular, the 2G cellular networks they utilized did not have enough bandwidth for the use of data-heavy applications. The wireless industry responded with 3G technologies to provide greater bandwidth to enable more applications and wireless devices. Data use rocketed with 3G.

Now, in response to persistent demand for richer applications and more bandwidth, the mobile industry is responding with an exponentially faster 4G technology called Long Term Evolution (LTE) - an output of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

Verizon Wireless will be the first in the U.S. and among the first in the world to launch LTE in 2010. LTE will provide Verizon Wireless consumers with significant benefits that extend beyond traditional day-to-day wireless communications, with the Verizon Wireless Open Development program serving as the initial gateway for a vibrant, growing LTE ecosystem.

David McCarley oversees service performance and device testing activities nationally for Verizon Wireless.  As a network service performance architect, David's primary accountability is to maintain the brand's Network promise.  His technical teams are charged with acting on behalf the customer.  By assimilating and exploiting the knowledge gained throughout a broad range of activities such as new device testing and approval, day to day service performance visibility and internal & external benchmarking assessments, the team's charge is to continually drive improvement.
